From 2024, the Hunter drone will go to the troops. Special attention in the Russian Federation is paid to heavy drones
Moscow. December 9th. INTERFAX - The Russian army in the period from 2024 to 2033 will begin to receive promising long-range aviation complexes (PAK DA), First Deputy chairman of the Board of the Military-Industrial Commission (MIC) of Russia Andrey Yelchaninov said in an interview with Interfax.
"The work on the PAK DA is proceeding according to schedule and has been provided with the necessary funding in full for the entire duration of the state contract. Deliveries of this aircraft will be provided for by the new armament program," Yelchaninov said.
"Two prototypes of the PAK DA engine have been manufactured, their bench tests have begun. During them, the characteristics of the terms of reference were confirmed," the agency interlocutor noted.
According to him, in the new State Armament Program (2024-2033), PJSC Tupolev will be tasked with pairing their equipment with drones and equipping aircraft with new types of weapons.
Yelchaninov also said that since 2024, the troops are also waiting for Hunter drones.
"The shape of the Hunter-type drone has been determined, the corresponding stages of testing are underway... One of the technical solutions that is currently being considered is the so-called flat nozzle. But so far this is just a design proposal that needs to be worked out. The deadlines for the delivery of drones to the troops remain - from 2024," said the first deputy chairman of the military-industrial complex board.
According to him, in the near future, deliveries of attack drones, specialized drones that will solve the tasks of radar surveillance and guidance are also planned.
"Unmanned aerial vehicles will also come, which will help solve the tasks of overcoming the enemy's air defense. In general, different nomenclature, at least six types. The emphasis is on the development of heavy drones, for the use of which the airstrips of the VKS will be used," Yelchaninov said.
According to official data, the strategic bomber-missile carrier of the new generation will be made according to the aerodynamic scheme "flying wing" (without tail) and built with the use of stealth technologies. It was also reported that the PAK DA will be subsonic and will be able to carry more weapons than the Tu-160.
As Interfax reported, Sukhoi is working on the creation of Russia's first long-duration heavy attack drone, the S-70 Hunter. On August 3, 2019, he took to the sky for the first time.
