The University is preparing a lunar mission, its modeling has already been carried out
SIRIUS /Federal Territory/, December 9. /tass/. Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) has created a software package for the analysis and design of space missions on an order focused on import substitution. This was announced at the session of the Congress of Young Scientists on Thursday by the Dean of the Faculty of Space Research of Moscow State University Vasily Sazonov.
"One very interesting project that is being conducted at our faculty is the creation of a new software package, which is a remake of STK (Systems Tool Kit - a software application for complex analysis of the earth, sea, etc. - approx. TASS), which is de facto used in foreign companies to analyze and design space missions from scratch. It is not legally supplied to our country, it is impossible to buy it. Our customers asked us to develop functionality <...> for their specific purposes, but we went further and began to create a full-fledged product on an open architecture, you can add your own plug-ins there, and now this is already an interesting product that is used in a number of organizations involved in the development and operation of space technology," Sazonov said.
According to him, the university is preparing a lunar mission, its modeling has already been carried out. During the mission, it is planned to go into lunar orbit on ion-powered vehicles and take photographs there.
The university also conducts research in the field of measuring deviations of the earth's gravitational field, which will provide an opportunity to analyze the saturation of the earth's surface with moisture and make crop forecasts.
