Success Rockets as part of the SR NET project intends to create a satellite constellation to provide broadband communications

MOSCOW, December 7. /tass/. Kirill Menshov, Senior Vice President for Information Technologies at Rostelecom, and Oleg Mansurov, founder and CEO of Success Rockets, signed an agreement on cooperation between the two companies. This was reported to TASS on Tuesday in the press service of the space company.

"The agreement provides for the development of IT cooperation in the field of big data analysis, the construction of global-level monitoring systems, as well as data transmission technologies via satellite broadband to provide ubiquitous Internet access and the Internet of Things for unmanned vehicles," the press service said.

The document was signed on December 7 by Menshov, Senior Vice President for Information Technology at Rostelecom, and Mansurov, founder and CEO of Success Rockets, at Rostelecom's office.

The press service explained that Success Rockets, as part of the SR NET project, intends to create a satellite grouping to provide broadband communications. "It will include more than 500 satellites. The mass of one satellite will be about 200 kg, the service life will be at least five years. All satellites will be low-orbit and at the end of their service life will be automatically de-orbited without turning into space debris," the company stressed.

"The development of satellite Internet is the most important goal for overcoming digital inequality in our country and makes it possible to provide public services throughout the Russian Federation. At the same time, the estimated number of subscribers should be at least 100 million," the press service quoted Mansurov as saying. He noted that the creation of a preliminary draft of the grouping is now being completed.

In turn, Menshov noted that Rostelecom considers the technologies used in Success Rockets in the field of data transmission and analysis to be promising. "In addition to our own IT developments, we regularly monitor the market and look for new solutions to expand the range of services and products both for our customers and for use within the company. We look forward to active cooperation in the field of big data analysis," he said.
