NEW DELHI, Dec 7 - RIA Novosti. Rosoboronexport will offer to transfer the production technology of the Octopus-SDM1 light floating tank to India as part of the tender, the company's CEO Alexander Mikheev told reporters.
Rosoboronexport with the Octopus-SDM1 light floating tank will definitely take part in the Indian tender for the supply of light tanks and will even offer technology transfer and, quite likely, localization of production of individual units and aggregates," Mikheev said.
He recalled that the "Octopus-SDM1– is the only light floating combat vehicle in its class, with the firepower of the main battle tank and equipped with a 125-mm cannon. All ammunition produced in India for use with T-72M1 and T-90S tanks can be used for the Octopus-SDM1, which has no analogues.
"Octopus-SDM1" can overcome water obstacles and at the same time fire from a cannon, land from a ship, work day and night on terrain impassable for other similar equipment – high in the mountains in rarefied air, at very high and low temperatures. This tank is of great interest to countries with difficult geographical conditions: water barriers, swamps and mountains.
The vehicle is equipped with a guided missile system designed to defeat armored targets, including those equipped with dynamic protection, at ranges up to 5 kilometers.
