This was stated at a briefing on Monday by the Chairman of the Aerospace Committee of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan Baubek Oralmagambetov.
"Now we are seeing a decrease in the load on the Baikonur complex, the number of launch pads is decreasing. To date, two types of launch vehicles are in operation - Proton-M and Soyuz-2," he said.
According to him, there are plans for the further development of the cosmodrome. "Through the Baiterek joint project, this is the modernization of the Zenit-M complex for the Soyuz-5 launch vehicle, and the modernization of the Gagarin Launch," the head of the committee listed.
He also said that the Kazakh side is analyzing the prospects for the development of the complex. "This research is carried out with the participation of foreign consulting companies that know how other cosmodromes of the world work. We hope that there will be clear recommendations on the basis of which a roadmap for the development of the Baikonur complex will appear," Oralmagambetov said.
In this regard, he explained that we are talking about both the main launch activity of the complex and space tourism. The study involves the analysis of opportunities for the development of "Baikonur" and the surrounding areas for 10 years.
