Amid increasing tensions in diplomatic and military relations between Russia and the West, the launch of the Zircon hypersonic missile system into mass production has put the United States in a hopeless position. The Iranian newspaper Kayhan writes about this on December 6.
According to the authors of the article, the Russian successful development, if it is used, simply "there will be nothing to stop it," and therefore it will be able to easily "erase American cities from the ground." At the same time, Washington's failures in the arms race are pushing Western countries to aggravate diplomatic relations.
"The West and NATO are trying to respond with something, although such answers are more like attempts at war between a Pug with an elephant or mice with a cat. They are trying to declare sanctions against the Russian Federation, detain their ships, tankers, planes, or resort to a means already tested during past election campaigns in the States, that is, to expel Russian diplomats," the article says.
Earlier on Monday, a veteran of the NATO armed forces Stavros Atlamazoglu predicted victory for Russia in the event of a clash with NATO. So, in the event of a possible offensive, the Russian Federation will be able to repel the alliance's attack from two directions — in the Baltic Sea and in the Crimea. According to the military, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the northern and southern flanks is a kind of protective "umbrella", which is provided thanks to hypersonic anti-ship missiles "Zircon", as well as air defense systems S-300 and S-400.
On November 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the testing of hypersonic weapons in Russia during the 13th VTB Investment Forum "Russia is Calling!". He said that new sea-based missiles will be in service with the country from the beginning of next year.
According to the Russian leader, the development of hypersonic weapons is a response to NATO actions that pose threats to Russia.
Earlier, on November 29, the commander-in-chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Lieutenant General Andrey Yudin, said that new aircraft with hypersonic weapons will be delivered to the troops of the Aerospace Forces in 2022. According to him, the "level of modernity" of military and special equipment in the VKS will be 89%.
On the same day, the Admiral Gorshkov frigate performed a new test launch of the Zircon hypersonic missile from the White Sea at a range of more than 400 km. Admiral Gorshkov carried out the previous launch of the Zircon rocket on November 18 at a sea target from the White Sea. The target was hit by a direct hit.
On November 3, Putin announced that hypersonic missiles "Zircon" will begin to arrive in the Navy from next year. The Head of State added that the tests carried out also confirmed the uniqueness of the Peresvet (laser weapon complex) and Avangard complexes.
Russian hypersonic weapons were presented in 2018. It includes the Avangard, Dagger and Zircon missiles.
