The active part of the first joint naval exercise ARNEX-2021 of the Russian Navy and sailors of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations is taking place off the coast of Indonesia near the island of Ve. The ASEAN countries are represented there by the warships of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei and Myanmar, and the Russian fleet is represented by the large anti-submarine ship of the Pacific Fleet Admiral Panteleev.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that during the exercise, crews as part of an international compound performed joint tactical maneuvering. "The participants of ARNEX-2021 practiced in the survey of civil vessels that arouse suspicion and vessels in distress. The algorithm of actions during the inspection operation of a suspicious vessel has been worked out," the department clarified.
It is also reported that now the ships of eight countries continue to solve problems at sea.
Earlier, the press service of the Russian Pacific Fleet said that the joint exercise is aimed at working out the interaction between the Russian Navy and the Navy of the ASEAN member countries. This is necessary to ensure the safety of maritime economic activity and civil navigation.
