Moscow. December 2. INTERFAX-AVN - Sniper unit exercises have started in four regions of Russia, the press service of the Western Military District (ZVO) reported.
"The military personnel of the sniper units of the combined arms army of the Far Eastern Federal District have started conducting large-scale exercises as part of the training camps in the Voronezh, Belgorod, Bryansk and Smolensk regions. (...) More than 700 military personnel were involved in the training camp," the press service said.
They noted that during the exercises, more experienced snipers will conduct courses on special, tactical and fire training for young servicemen.
"Special courses include the study and practical application of the intelligence, control and communication complexes of the Strelets-M cruise missile system, the preparation and masking of firing positions, the study of special techniques for countering snipers of a conditional enemy, shooting at the most remote targets according to the received meteorological and ballistic data, actions in close contact with patrol groups of the "enemy", including hand-to-hand combat, as well as the fight against lightly armored vehicles," the headquarters of the ZVO said.
The exercises will use sniper rifles SVD, SVD-M, SVD-K, as well as army large-caliber sniper rifles ASVK, the press service added.
Earlier, Washington announced the concentration of Russian troops near the border with Ukraine. On November 23, the Kremlin said that Russia does not harbor any aggressive plans, but expressed concern about provocations by the Ukrainian armed forces and Kiev's preparation of a possible military solution to the Donbass problem.
