At the Military Academy of Strategic Missile Forces named after Peter the Great, the Russian Ministry of Defense proposed to protect artificial Earth satellites from space debris with the help of Velcro shells. The corresponding patent of the Russian military is reported by TASS .
"The method provides for the kinetic impact on dangerous objects by special projectiles fired from an electromagnetic (rail) accelerator launched into the orbit of a spacecraft," the document says.
According to the patent, plastic and sticky projectiles must attach to a dangerous object, changing the trajectory of its movement. The corresponding installation firing projectiles is proposed to be placed "in the appropriate orbit of the Earth." Solar panels should be used to power the device.
In November, the Zvezda TV channel told about a stone tracking enemies, developed by cadets of the Air Force Academy from Voronezh. Outwardly resembling a cobblestone, the product is a tracked platform equipped with a surveillance system. The stone is able to move through the chernozem. Standby time is up to a day.
