TASS, December 1.. The American company SpaceX has shifted the orbits of some Starlink satellites to prevent their possible collision with space debris. This was announced on Tuesday by the head of the company, Elon Musk.
"We had to shift the orbits of some Starlink satellites to reduce the likelihood of [their] collision [with debris in space]," the American entrepreneur wrote on his Twitter page.
Musk also noted that both the International Space Station (ISS) and the SpaceX Dragon cargo ship are equipped with protective screens that allow them to absorb the impacts of high-speed objects flying in outer space.
Previously scheduled for November 30, NASA astronauts went into space to replace a malfunctioning antenna on the ISS was canceled due to reports of space debris approaching the station. The astronauts are scheduled to go into space on Thursday, December 2.
Russians Anton Shkaplerov and Pyotr Dubrov, Americans Mark Vande Hai and Raja Chari are currently on duty at the ISS.
