On November 26, 2021, the South Korean Jinhae-gu Naval Base (Changwon) hosted the ceremony of handing over to the Peruvian Navy the PCC 767 Suncheon corvette of the Pohang type withdrawn from the South Korean Navy. The ship received the new Peruvian name SS 28 Guise, becoming the fifth ship in the Peruvian Navy with the name in honor of the first commander of the Peruvian Navy (1821), Rear Admiral Martin Jorge Guise. It is reported that the ship left for Peru on the same day on November 26 with a Peruvian crew and, after visiting a number of Pacific ports, should arrive in Callao on January 4, 2022.

The ship was transferred to Peru free of charge as a military aid. Before the transfer to Peru, the Harpoon anti-ship missile system, as well as South Korean electronic warfare and anti-torpedo protection systems were removed from the ship. Earlier in 2015, South Korea had already transferred to Peru a corvette of this type PCC 758 Gyeongju, which is part of the Peruvian fleet as SS 27 Ferre.
The PCC 767 Suncheon corvette was built at the Hanjin Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. shipyard in Busan and commissioned into the South Korean Navy in September 1988, and was removed from the fleet on December 24, 2019. Like the PCC 758 Gyeongju, it is one of 24 Pohang-type corvettes with a standard displacement of about 1,260 tons, built in several modifications by South Korean shipyards in the 1980s and early 1990s. The infamous RSS 772 Cheonan corvette, sunk on March 26, 2010 as a result of an alleged torpedo attack by a DPRK submarine, also belonged to this type. Since 2009, ships of the Pohang type have been withdrawn from the South Korean Navy, by now 13 ships have been excluded from the lists. The lead corvette RSS 756 Pohang is now installed as a museum ship in the city of Pohang, after which it was named. Of the decommissioned ships, in addition to the PCC 758 Gyeongju and PCC 767 Suncheon corvettes transferred to Peru, PCC 761 Gimcheon and RSS 756 Yeosu corvettes were transferred to Vietnam in 2017-2018, PCC 763 Jinju was transferred to Egypt in 2017, RSS 768 Iksan was transferred to Colombia, and RSS 762 Chungju was transferred to the Philippines. Now the RSS 771 Andong corvette is being prepared for transfer to the Philippines.
