CAIRO, Nov 30 - RIA Novosti. The Russian-made Typhoon-AIRBORNE amphibious armored vehicle has received an export permit, Bulat Zaynutdinov, head of the Foreign economic activity service of the Remdiesel developer company, told RIA Novosti.
Remdiesel, which is taking part in the EDEX exhibition at the Rosoboronexport stand, brought models of Typhoon and Tornado armored vehicles to Cairo.
"This year we received an export passport for the Typhoon-AIRBORNE vehicle, that is, we received full permission to export this vehicle. This is the only armored car in the world that can be parachuted. This is a very competitive technique for the global market," Zainutdinov said.
Typhoon-Airborne is equipped with a 350 horsepower Kamaz engine and an automatic transmission. The armored vehicle is capable of reaching speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour, with a power reserve of 1.2 thousand kilometers. The suspension is made on the basis of hydropneumatic shock absorbers. The armor provides explosion protection for 6 kilograms of TNT under the wheel or 4 kilograms under the bottom. The car is aerodesantable.
Typhoons for Airborne troops are armed with a remote-controlled module with a 30-millimeter cannon. According to the developers, this gun is capable of hitting targets at ranges that were previously unattainable for weapons of this caliber, and shooting can be carried out in motion at any time of the day and in difficult weather conditions.
A source in the military-industrial complex in early August told RIA Novosti that the Typhoon-Airborne was accepted for the supply of airborne troops, the first batch of vehicles will be delivered to the troops in the near future.
On Monday, the EDEX defense industry exhibition opened in the Egyptian capital. According to the organizers, more than 400 companies from 42 countries take part in it.
