TSAMTO, November 30. The Main Directorate of Armament of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on November 28 celebrated 92 years since its formation.
On this day in 1929, the post of Chief of Armaments of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army was established and his apparatus, the Red Army Armament Service, was created.
During the entire period of its activity, the office of the Chief of Armament was repeatedly reorganized into different structures, services and management bodies. As a rule, organizational and staff changes coincided with the next stages of reforming our state and its Armed Forces. However, despite all the transformations, the general orientation of the activities of this most important military administration body responsible for the technical re-equipment of the Armed Forces has always remained unchanged.
Currently, the nature of wars and armed conflicts has changed significantly, which have become high-tech, dynamic, requiring fundamentally new approaches both to their conduct and to military-technical support.
In the conditions of a difficult military-political situation, the aggravation of threats to the security of the country, the Russian Federation purposefully and consistently implements a policy of containment and prevention of military conflicts, carries out measures to improve the military organization, forms and methods of use of Armed Forces, rearmament of troops and forces.
Equipping the Armed Forces with modern models of the Air Force is a priority task implemented in order to ensure national defense, state and public security of the Russian Federation.
These tasks have been transformed into the State Armament Program for 2018-2027, the main goal of which is the comprehensive development of the Russian Federation's armament system based on complete supplies of modern domestic weapons and special equipment.
Currently, the Main Directorate of Armament of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation under the leadership of Lieutenant General Anatoly Gulyaev is one of the key central bodies of military administration for the development of a system of conceptual views and practical measures implemented for the purpose of military-technical support of national security of the state, the development of the armament system of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the military-industrial complex, the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports.
