On Friday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu spoke at the VII scientific and practical conference "The system of interdepartmental information interaction in solving problems in the field of defense of the Russian Federation".
According to Shoigu, no task of national importance, whether it is the defense of the country or the fight against coronavirus, can be solved without consolidated efforts, reliable and uninterrupted functioning of such a system. It is "constantly improving and adapting to changes in the global geopolitical picture, which was clearly demonstrated by well-coordinated work in the conditions of continuing restrictions on the coronavirus pandemic," the minister said.
The head of the Defense Ministry illustrated his words with several examples. He recalled that the architecture of peaceful life in the Karabakh conflict zone, in Syria, Armenia, and Afghanistan is being built through joint efforts. At the same time, effective humanitarian support has been provided to Syria and Cuba. "In addition, more than 15 countries have received assistance from both Russia and the Armed Forces in the fight against the pandemic. This is both the far abroad and the near abroad. We continue this work," Shoigu said.
At this stage, it is important to summarize, analyze the results of such activities, clarify the directions of further development, while taking into account the most modern approaches and new technologies, the minister believes.
Shoigu noted that this year the Armed Forces have been involved many times in eliminating the consequences of emergency situations and in providing assistance to the population of regions affected by natural disasters and coronavirus infection.
According to him, the cooperation of the Ministry of Defense with the regions is being built purposefully. In particular, funds of military commissariats are being developed, Patriot parks are being created throughout the country, Avangard centers for military-patriotic education of youth, and issues of social security for military families are being resolved.
