Technodinamika Holding of Rostec State Corporation has developed a flash drive that eliminates information by pressing a button.
Unlike existing analogues, the device is safe for the user, since when the electric detonator is triggered, the integrity of its body is not violated, and the data stored on the flash drive is destroyed beyond recovery.
In the new development, the memory chip, power and control elements are located in a single housing. If it is necessary to destroy the information from the flash drive, the user presses the button on the end of the device. The built-in power supply activates the electric detonator, which burns the printed circuit board with a cumulative jet. The integrity of the case is not violated, which guarantees the safety of the user.
"In today's digital world, data security requires special attention. We have created a new device that can reliably protect information from unauthorized access: the impossibility of data recovery has been confirmed by expertise. In the future, it is necessary to test the device for safety during long-term storage, for resistance to mechanical and climatic factors, as well as to work out various design options for the case," said Igor Nasenkov, CEO of Technodinamika Holding.
The self-destructing information storage device was developed on the initiative of JSC "NPP "Krasnoznamenets". The amount of memory, as well as the appearance of the flash drive, can be any - depending on the preferences of the customer.
Potential consumers of the device may be government agencies, as well as companies working with confidential information, Rostec reported.
