Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Alexey Krivoruchko on Thursday checked the production of armored vehicles at the Arzamas Machine-Building Plant of the Military Industrial Company, where, in particular, he got acquainted with the progress of work on the latest armored vehicles on the Boomerang platform.
The deputy head of the military department also demonstrated the production lines of Tiger armored vehicles, BTR-82A armored personnel carriers and other armored vehicles.
State tests of an armored personnel carrier and an infantry fighting vehicle based on the Boomerang platform are planned to begin in the spring of 2022, the head of the 154th military representation, Lieutenant Colonel Yuri Chikin, said at the Arzamas Machine-Building Plant.
"The car has passed preliminary tests with a positive result. Currently, prototypes are being finalized to submit them for state tests, which are scheduled to begin in March - April 2022," the head of the representative office said.
He clarified that "the completion of state tests is planned in November - December next year."
The military-industrial company has developed the K-16 armored personnel carrier and the K-17 infantry fighting vehicle on the Boomerang platform.
The K-16 APC is equipped with a combat module with a 12.7mm machine gun, the K-17 has a Boomerang-BM combat module "with a 30 mm 2A42 automatic cannon, as well as Cornet anti-tank missile launchers".
