Moscow. November 25. INTERFAX - Russian Helicopters will offer shock and civilian vehicles, as well as service solutions to potential customers from the Middle East and North Africa at the EDEX exhibition in Cairo, the press service of the holding said.
Russian Helicopters Holding of Rostec State Corporation will present to potential customers a wide range of civil and military helicopters within the framework of the International Defense Industry Exhibition EDEX-2021, which will be held from November 29 to December 2 in Cairo. Guests and participants of the exhibition will be able to get acquainted with models of attack helicopters Ka-52 and Mi-35P, as well as military transport Mi-17V-5," the press service said.
"The countries of the Middle East and North Africa have one of the largest fleets of Russian helicopters in the world, today more than 500 helicopters of Russian and Soviet production are operated in the region," the holding said.
Within the framework of the exhibition, local operators will be presented with various service solutions to ensure the airworthiness and timely maintenance of Russian helicopters.
"The holding's partnership with the Middle East countries in the military-technical sphere has become traditional, and within the framework of EDEX, Russian Helicopters specialists will continue the work started at the Dubai Airshow-2021 (UAE), where the Mi-28NE and Ka-52 attack helicopters were first presented and aroused serious interest," the press service said.
The holding expressed interest in developing cooperation on civil issues, "considering the recent international premieres of the Ka-226T Climber and Ansat Aurus helicopters as an aid for the possible expansion of the order portfolio in the region."
The Russian Federation supplies Egypt with Ka-52 Alligator reconnaissance and attack helicopters as part of a contract for 46 vehicles. "The capabilities of the Ka-52 Alligator helicopter were evaluated by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi during a visit to the Egyptian Air Force base back in October 2018," the press service of Russian Helicopters said.
The Ka-52 has been mass-produced for the needs of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation since 2010. The helicopter is designed to destroy tanks, armored and unarmored military equipment, manpower, helicopters and other enemy aircraft. The export version of the Ka-52 has a reinforced fuselage design, is equipped with a new on-board defense system and a sighting station to increase the range of detection and recognition of targets, as well as a new cooling system for operation in hot climates.
In the summer of 2017, it was announced that Russia had won a tender for the supply of Ka-52K Katran deck helicopters to Cairo to equip Mistral helicopter carriers. However, the contract has not yet been signed.
According to media reports, Russia and Egypt have a package of contracts in the field of military-technical cooperation for about $ 3.5 billion, signed in 2014. The agreements imply the supply of Russian air defense systems, artillery, small arms, as well as aviation to Cairo.
