Ukraine sees no restrictions on the supply of weapons from Germany, the country will raise this issue in negotiations with the new German government. This was announced on Thursday, November 25, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba.
"As for the issue of weapons, our position remains unchanged: we do not see any obstacles to the supply of weapons and strengthening defense capabilities from any state in the world. There are no legal, political or moral restrictions for this. We will also communicate with the new German government about this," he said at a briefing.
Kuleba also noted that he does not predict significant changes in bilateral contacts between Ukraine and Germany with the arrival of a new ruling coalition.
"We do not expect any radical changes or adjustments in German foreign policy regarding Ukraine, and the coalition agreement confirms this," he concluded.
On November 24, Der Spiegel reported that a meeting of the Bundestag, at which Olaf Scholz will be elected the new Chancellor of Germany, will be held no later than December 8. Under certain circumstances, Scholz's election may take place as early as December 6.
On August 20, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kiev expects help from Berlin in equipping the navy. Ukraine also expects that Germany "will be a partner of Ukraine in a technical sense," Zelensky added.
It is noted that in the spring, the co-chairman of the Green Party of Germany, Robert Habek, visited Ukraine. Then he advocated the sale of defensive weapons to Kiev.
On August 19, Zelensky spoke about plans to implement a three-stage program for the development of the Navy in the country by 2035. According to him, an appropriate infrastructure is being created in the country, including small submarines, corvettes and military boats. The final stage of the program involves the construction of a powerful fleet in the Black and Azov Seas.
