MOSCOW, November 24. /tass/. The squad of sappers of the International Mine Action Center (MPC) The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation arrived in Laos to perform humanitarian demining tasks. This was reported to journalists on Wednesday in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"The military personnel of the mine clearance unit of the MPC arrived to conduct humanitarian demining in the Nakai district of Khammuan province of the Lao People's Democratic Republic," the ministry said.
It is noted that Russian sappers will have to perform tasks both in the jungle and in settlements where unexploded ordnance of half a century ago still threatens local residents.
The Ministry of Defense clarified that in order to fulfill the tasks, the detachment is equipped with modern means of searching for explosive objects: selective portable induction mine detectors IMP-S2, magnetometric bomb detectors MBI-P2, deep mine detectors MG-1I, portable non-contact explosive devices INVU-3M, as well as personal protective equipment sapper OVR-2-02, equipped with a cooling system.
