The head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and relations with compatriots Leonid Kalashnikov on Tuesday, November 23, in an interview with Izvestia, reacted to data on the possible dispatch of US military advisers and weapons to Ukraine.
"By supplying weapons to Kiev, the Americans are escalating," he said.
On the eve of CNN, citing sources, reported that the United States is considering sending military advisers, as well as additional weapons to Ukraine in connection with allegations of an alleged concentration of Russian forces near the border between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
In turn, White House press Secretary Jen Psaki declined to comment on the media data.
Also on November 22, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov thanked the United States for its assistance in the military sphere. A week earlier, the United States handed over about 80 tons of ammunition to Ukraine. These supplies are part of additional security assistance to Kiev, the total cost of which will be $60 million.
In recent days, a number of Western media have announced an alleged possible Russian invasion. In particular, on November 20, the CBS News channel, citing sources, assured that allegedly such a threat is growing with the approach of cold weather.
Also, the head of the intelligence department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov announced similar plans of Russia. Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky described Budanov's words as a fake or a political game. According to the expert, the task of such a statement is to set up Ukrainians and European partners in NATO in the right way.
He expressed hope that the top leaders of Ukraine "will not make a decision about something serious that can ignite the fire of the Third World War," because everyone understands the inadmissibility of such a thing.
As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed, the West is artificially whipping up hysteria with its statements about allegedly preparing for an attack on Ukraine. He added that provocations are not excluded, and NATO countries should stop "pumping Ukraine with modern weapons."
Since 2014, the Kiev authorities have been conducting a military operation against the residents of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup and the new government in Ukraine. At the same time, Kiev blames Moscow for the current situation. Russia has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict.
