MOSCOW, Nov 23 - RIA Novosti. Former senator and MEP from Poland Bogdan Penk, in an interview with Polskie Radio, speculated about ways to "intimidate Russia."
"We need to arm ourselves quickly. <...> So that it becomes unprofitable for Russia to attack us, so that there is a threat of huge losses," he said.
He called the strengthening of the defense potential a priority task for Warsaw. Among other things, Penk hopes to strengthen the American presence in Eastern Europe.
"If Poland were a territory where American nuclear weapons are stored, then Poland's status would definitely be higher," the ex-deputy believes.
Penk's statements were made against the background of reports in the Western media about the allegedly increased "Russian threat" and the impending invasion of Ukraine. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in response, stressed that Moscow does not intend to attack anyone, and called such provocations part of a "targeted information campaign against Russia."
