The possibility of the United States and other NATO countries sending military advisers and weapons to Ukraine is not excluded, it already takes place. This was announced to journalists on November 23 by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the CNN publication that the administration of US President Joe Biden is considering sending weapons and military advisers to Ukraine.
"Sending military advisers and weapons to Ukraine, this should not be ruled out, because this is the case. Military advisers arrive there, weapons systems arrive there not only from the United States, but also from other NATO countries. And all this, of course, leads to further escalation on the contact line," he said.
In addition, Peskov added that the new sanctions that the United States plans to impose for the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline (SP-2) are illegal.
"The sanctions on SP-2 are a continuation of the sanctions language, which Washington does not want to abandon in any way. This is Washington's favorite language. We have a negative attitude to this, we have talked about it more than once. We consider this illegal, wrong, especially against the background of intense attempts to develop the previously lost dialogue," the Kremlin spokesman said.
Earlier in the day, CNN, citing sources, reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden is considering an option in which Washington will send military advisers to Ukraine, as well as new equipment, including weapons. According to the TV channel, the aid package will be presented against the background of Kiev's statements, which continues to talk about allegedly preparing an invasion in January 2022. Presumably, together with the advisers, mortars and Javelin ATGM can go to Ukraine. In addition, it is reported that the Pentagon may transfer to Ukraine some of the weapons that were planned to be provided to the Afghan authorities before the fall of the government in the summer of 2021. In particular, the option with helicopters is being considered.
A day earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced the US intention to impose new sanctions on SP-2 against Transadria Ltd. from the Russian Federation, as well as two Russian vessels, one of which is called Marlin. American political scientist Bruce Marks, in an interview with Izvestia, called these restrictions very insignificant. In his opinion, they will not suspend the launch of the SP-2 gas pipeline and its implementation.
