Washington. November 23. INTERFAX - The administration of US President Joe Biden is considering sending military advisers and weapons to Ukraine due to Russia's alleged buildup of forces near the Ukrainian border, CNN reports, citing informed sources.
According to them, the assistance may include sending Javelin anti-tank missiles to Ukraine, as well as mortars.
It is noted that, among other things, the sending of portable anti-aircraft missile systems "Stinger" to Ukraine is being considered.
In addition, the Pentagon is reportedly insisting that some equipment that was supposed to be sent to Afghanistan, for example, MI-17 helicopters, be sent to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the channel's sources emphasize that some administration officials are concerned that sending military equipment could be regarded by Russia as a serious escalation.
And although the United States is ready to send several military advisers to the region, it is unclear whether anyone will go to Ukraine itself, they noted.
