They do not require active cooling systems in data centers and can operate at 40 degrees Celsius, the company noted
MOSCOW, November 19. /tass/. Yandex has released the first batch of servers manufactured in Russia. This was reported to TASS by the company's press service on Friday.
Yandex and its partners have released the first batch of servers manufactured in Russia. They are based on a fourth-generation server developed by Yandex. Such servers are used in data centers to expand the Yandex.Cloud cloud platform and in Yandex supercomputers - the most powerful in Russia according to the TOP500 project rating," the message says.
Currently, the batch is being tested in the Yandex infrastructure. Similar servers under the Openyard brand for sale to other companies in 2022 are planned to be produced by a future joint venture (JV) of Yandex, Lanit Group of companies, Gigabyte computer equipment manufacturer and VTB Bank.
The company added that the servers are designed to work in large data centers (data centers), where high performance and energy efficiency are required. They do not require active cooling systems in data centers and can operate at 40 degrees Celsius, which reduces energy costs and infrastructure support in the data center.
The first batch of servers was released at the ALT Master contract manufacturing facility in Zelenograd. It is planned that next year the joint venture will launch its own plant for the production of server equipment near Ryazan. It will produce servers, storage systems, gateways and components of "smart" devices. At the first stage, the joint venture invests more than 1 billion rubles in production.
In June 2021, Yandex, Lanit, Gigabyte and VTB announced the creation of a joint venture to launch the production of servers in Russia.
