YELABUGA, November 22. /tass/. The certification program of the MS-21 aircraft with a composite wing made of domestic components is at the completion stage. This was announced to journalists on Monday by Anatoly Gaidansky, First Deputy General Director of PJSC Irkut Corporation.
"Almost the first certification program is already at the completion stage. We have less than 50 flights left before the first certificate. In the future, there will be many more flights to expand the certificate data card," he said. At the moment, the aircraft has completed approximately 700 test flights.
According to Gaidansky, the certificate is planned to be received by the end of the year. "We are now doing everything possible to make it happen in December 2021," he said.
In May, a 17.5-meter wing console of the MS-21-300 aircraft, made of Russian composite materials, was delivered to the Irkutsk Aircraft Factory. Earlier, the head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, reported that tests of the aircraft with a composite wing will take place before the end of the year, and in 2022 serial production will begin.
The MS-21 is a medium-haul aircraft under development.
