MOSCOW, November 22. /tass/. State tests of the latest Russian T-14 tanks on the Armata platform are scheduled to be completed next year. This was announced by the acting head of the Main Armored Vehicle Directorate (GABTU) of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Major General Alexander Shestakov.

"Every year at the Army forum, samples of the T-14 tank, the T-15 infantry fighting vehicle and the T-16 armored repair and evacuation vehicle, which are being created as part of the Armata project, are demonstrated. This year, he reached, as they say, the finish line. The completion of its state tests is scheduled for 2022," said Shestakov, whose words are quoted in an article published on Monday in the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda.

The head of the GABTU also noted that in accordance with modern requirements, infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers are being transformed into a universal combat vehicle. "Now it must not only transport military personnel and support them with fire in battle, but also fight the enemy's armored vehicles, with its low-flying aerial targets. Unlike its predecessors, the car must effectively solve this problem not only from the spot, but also in motion, including afloat. At the same time, the requirement for remote control of weapons prevails," Shestakov explained.

According to him, combat vehicles with an uninhabited combat module are being created for the complex solution of all the listed fire tasks.

The T-14 tank on the Armata platform is designed as the main tank of the Russian ground forces. The crew of three people is housed in an armored capsule in the tank body. The remotely controlled uninhabited turret of the tank is equipped with a 125 mm smoothbore gun, a 12.7 mm twin machine gun and a 57 mm automatic grenade launcher. The tank is equipped with an active protection system that can shoot down projectiles and missiles flying into the car. The modular system allows you to replace the armament and equipment of the tank depending on the tasks. Estimated characteristics: diesel engine power - 1.5 thousand horsepower; highway speed - up to 75 km/h. Weight - up to 55 tons. The power reserve is up to 500 km.
