The toilet broke down again on the American segment of the International Space Station (ISS). This was announced on Friday, November 19, by German astronaut of the European Space Agency (ESA) Matthias Maurer.
"I had to do some pretty dirty work this morning. Our toilet broke down, and I had to deal deeply with its device, with all the hoses to fix it," Maurer said during a communication with Earth, broadcast on the ESA website.
The toilet on the American segment of the ISS also broke down several times in 2019.
At the same time, on November 12, 2021, the Crew Dragon Endurance ship with the Crew-3 mission on board docked to the International Space Station. On board the spacecraft were American astronauts Raja Chari, Tom Marshburn, Kayla Barron and Maurer. It was noted that the astronauts will embark on a six-month mission, living and working aboard the microgravity laboratory to advance scientific knowledge and demonstrate new technologies for future exploration of the Moon and Mars.
In addition, Russians Pyotr Dubrov and Anton Shkaplerov are on board the ISS.
On November 16, Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin and NASA CEO Bill Nelson had a telephone conversation. The main topic of discussion was the convergence of the ISS with space debris formed as a result of testing of anti-satellite systems. After the conversation, the head of NASA said that he expressed his concern to Rogozin about the danger that astronauts and cosmonauts on the ISS allegedly continue to be exposed to.
Two days later, Rogozin assured that there was no threat to the safety of the crew of the International Space Station and its work.
