France is launching large-scale naval exercises POLARIS 21, which will be held in the western part of the Mediterranean Sea and off the Atlantic coast of the country, the press service of its Navy reported.
The exercises, which will last until December 3, will involve almost half of all ships of the French Navy, including an aircraft carrier strike group led by the nuclear aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, a large Mistral-class Tonnerre landing ship, missile frigates and nuclear submarines.
The Air Force and Army units will also take part in the exercises. The total number of troops will be 6.5 thousand military personnel, including 4 thousand sailors, the report says.
In addition, US, Spanish, Greek, Italian and British warships are expected to participate in the POLARIS 21 exercises.
