MOSCOW, Nov 18 - RIA Novosti. Russia has received five applications from foreign customers for the supply of Orion attack unmanned aerial vehicles with guided missiles "Whirlwind-M", a source in the military-industrial complex told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, the Kronstadt company reported that the ground testing of Orion-E drones with Vortices-M has been completed, flight tests with firing missiles from the vehicle are expected.
The Vikhr-M missiles were developed by the Kalashnikov Group of Companies for the Ka-52 attack helicopter. The maximum speed of the missiles is 610 meters per second, the range of application is 800-10, 000 meters, the height of application is 10-4000 meters. The Whirlwind is able to penetrate homogeneous armor with a thickness of 750 millimeters behind dynamic protection.
The Orion developed by Kronstadt belongs to the class of medium-high impact unmanned aerial vehicles of long flight duration. Its maximum take-off weight is 1,150 kilograms, cruising flight speed is 200 kilometers per hour, maximum flight altitude is seven kilometers, the device can stay in the air for up to a day. The maximum mass of the drone's payload is 200 kilograms.
