TSAMTO, November 17. The Brazilian Ministry of Defense plans to transfer to Uruguay the decommissioned wheeled armored personnel carriers EE-11 "Urutu", which are being replaced as planned by the new VBTP-MR "Guarani".
As reported by Infodefensa.com On November 9, Uruguayan Defense Minister Javier Garcia received his Brazilian counterpart Walter Souza Braga Netto at the headquarters of the 1st Cavalry Brigade in the Rivera Department (in northern Uruguay).
Following the meeting, H.Garcia said that the Brazilian minister offered to supply Uruguay with EE-11 "Uruta" armored personnel carriers as they are written off.
Brazil is also currently in the process of transferring 12 units of 105-mm self-propelled guns M-108 to Uruguay as a grant, and earlier, according to the same scheme, it transferred 25 M-41C light tanks to Uruguay.
The publication unofficially managed to find out that Uruguay is also interested in acquiring a certain number of former combat training aircraft EMB-314 "Super Tucano" to replace the outdated IA-58A "Pukara", decommissioned several years ago.
