TSAMTO, November 17. The French company Arquus (part of the Volvo Group) has completed the delivery of 300 VLRA 2 light tactical vehicles (Vehicule Leger de Reconnaissance et d'Appui) to the Moroccan Armed Forces under a contract signed at the end of last year.
As reported by Defensa.com, deliveries began in June and were completed at the end of October.
Most of the new cars are located in the area of the so-called Moroccan "security wall" in the Sahara. The Moroccan Army has made changes to some VLRA 2 vehicles by installing double-barreled ZU-23-2s on them.
VLRA 2 is a new generation of light tactical vehicles with a 4x4 wheel formula developed by the French company ACMAT, now part of Arquus (formerly Renault Trucks Defense).
The car has a power reserve of 1400 km at a speed of 110 km/h on the highway. The capacity ranges from 12 to 19 military personnel (plus a crew of 2 people). The vehicle can be armed with a 5.56 or 7.62 mm machine gun mounted on a pedestal mount, and a 12.7 mm machine gun or a 40 mm grenade launcher in a ring mount mounted on the passenger seat, if necessary. The cargo compartment can accommodate various types of large-caliber weapons.
