The relatively low price of the promising Russian fifth-generation fighter Su-75 may be the key to its export attractiveness. The first buyer may be the United Arab Emirates.
This conclusion was reached by the author of The National Interest, Caleb Larson, who tried to assess the prospects of the fighter on the world market. He writes that the stated possible price of $ 30 million is much lower than that of the American fifth-generation fighter-bomber F-35, the cost of which can reach up to $ 90 million.
The expert believes that the relatively low price reflects the export orientation of the Su-75. And as proof, he cites the fact that the presentation video of the fighter showed pilots from India, the Middle East and Latin America. "Perhaps it was a marketing ploy in order to increase interest in the fighter," writes Caleb Larson.
The expert names the United Arab Emirates as the first possible buyer abroad. Now the American F-16 and the French Mirage are actively operated there. "Finding the first buyer will be a great success for the Checkmate program: new monetary investments will be able to pave the way for wide exports," the author concludes.
Recall that at the Dubai Airshow 2021, one of the most spectacular premieres was the presentation of the Russian Checkmate fighter: His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Emir of Dubai, visited it. The show made an impression on the distinguished guest.
