The Kronstadt company has begun the creation of the first prototype of the latest Sirius attack drone. This was announced to RIA Novosti on November 16 by the general director of the organization Sergey Bogatikov.
"The Sirius prototype is already being assembled at our pilot plant in Moscow," he said.
As noted earlier in Kronstadt, Sirius was originally developed as a heavier version of the Orion strike drone with satellite control and the ability to interact with manned aircraft.
Initially, the installation of OSNOD equipment (a unified communication, data exchange and identification system) was provided on the drone. Sirius has great transport capabilities, it is equipped with two engines, in addition, it has a longer range and a good combat load.
The former Sirius had a mass of up to 2 tons, a wingspan of up to 23 m. The duration of the flight of such a drone was designed for a maximum of 20 hours.
It is expected that the highest altitude that the new Sirius is capable of developing will be 7 thousand meters, and the speed of the device will be 180 km / h.
At the Army-2021 exhibition (the 7th International Military-Technical Forum was held in Kubinka from August 22 to 28 at one of the key sites for showing promising upgraded weapons and equipment), the Ministry of Defense signed the first contract with Kronstadt for the supply of the Sirius drone.
Having entered service in the Russian army, it will be called "Pacer-RU".
Earlier, on November 10, it was reported that the Dubai Airshow 2021 International Airshow will be held in Dubai (UAE) from November 14 to 18.
This year at the air show, Russian manufacturers will take part not only in the static exposition, but also in the flight program. In addition, the Russian Orion drone is expected to be shown. For the first time, within the framework of the Aurus brand exposition, a Sukhoi Superhet 100 aircraft in a business layout will be shown in a single style.
