TSAMTO, November 16. As part of the flight program of the Dubai Airshow 2021, the Mi-28NE attack helicopter produced by the Russian Helicopters Holding (Rostec State Corporation) made its first demonstration flight.
Guests and participants were able to see the figures of complex aerobatics of a combat helicopter with unique maneuverability.
At the Dubai Airshow 2021, the Russian Mi-28 attack helicopter made its debut in an export modification. This is his first show outside of Russia. The family of Mi-28 helicopters is called "Night Hunters" (according to the NATO classification – Havoc – "Devastator"). The Mi-28 has been adopted by the Russian army as the main attack helicopter of the Aerospace Forces. In the skies of Dubai, the Night Hunter showed its high flight performance. The Mi-28 can perform a number of aerobatics, available, except for it, only to aircraft.
Many aerobatics were performed at minimum altitudes and speeds, which is especially important for the survivability of the helicopter in real combat conditions. Under the control of the Honored Test Pilot Hero of Russia Sergey Barkov, the Mi-28NE demonstrated combat turns, diving, slides, tail-first flight, hovering and climbing with rotation.
The pilots demonstrated the dynamic capabilities of the machine, its stability in the air and docility in control. The combat properties of the "Night Hunter" are significantly expanded due to its maneuverability. He is able to quickly enter the target even with active maneuvering.
The Mi-28 attack helicopter has a powerful armament complex, which includes a mobile automatic 30-mm cannon with a left-right rotation range of 110 degrees, anti-tank guided missiles of three types with a firing range of 6 and 10 km, guided air-to-air missiles, unguided missiles of two types, suspended cannon containers, aerial bombs of up to 500 kg.
The main rotor blades of the "Night Hunter" are capable of withstanding a 30 mm projectile hit. The helicopter is equipped with high-power engines – 2400 hp each. It is possible to fly on one engine if the other is damaged. "Night Hunter" has a high survivability. The front and side windows of the crew cabin are armored. The cabin of the Mi-28NE is protected by ceramic armor, the Mi-28NE is able to effectively perform its tasks in a hot climate. A new screen-exhaust and dust-proof device is installed on it.
The Mi-28NE is manufactured at the Rostvertol enterprise, part of the Russian Helicopters holding.
