Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a decree awarding orders and medals to a large group of shipbuilders and designers - creators of the lead submarine missile carrier "Prince Vladimir" project 955 "Borey-A".
As it became known to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, more than a hundred (according to some sources, more than 120) participants of a wide scientific and production cooperation were awarded state awards, including the leading design bureau of the MT Rubin Central Design Bureau, developers of individual systems from specialized research institutes and design bureaus, equipment manufacturers and, of course, shipbuilders of Sevmash, where everything was put together, put on the slipway and as a result of seven years of hard work became a fourth-generation strategic submarine "Prince Vladimir".
The command of the Navy, the United Shipbuilding Corporation and the country's leadership highly appreciated the results achieved in such cooperation. At the request of RG, Sevmash clarified that among the awarded 74 employees of their shipyard are engineers, welders, ship installers, representatives of other specialties who took part in the construction of this submarine. As expected, the awards will be presented to shipbuilders on the eve of the shipyard's birthday, which is celebrated on December 21.

It should be recalled that the laying of the new ship according to the upgraded Borey-A project took place on July 30, 2012. Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the official ceremony at the Sevmash slipway workshop. After being taken out of the boathouse and launched, the Prince Vladimir, as the lead in the series, was subjected to comprehensive tests under an expanded program - with rocket launches and torpedo firing.
Mikhail Budnichenko, General Director of Sevmash, at the moment of raising the St. Andrew's flag, said that Prince Vladimir had opened a line of ships of an almost new project, in which "the most advanced design developments are embodied, the soul and work of Sevmash shipbuilders, as well as hundreds of counterparty organizations are invested."
On June 12, 2020, on Russia Day, the new submarine was included in the Navy's combat strength.
And three weeks later, the crew of K-549 under the command of Captain I rank Vladislav Druzhin made an interbase transfer to the place of permanent deployment in Gadzhievo and was included in the 31st division of submarines of the Northern Fleet.
According to reports from open sources, as part of the Umka-2021 exercises in March 2021, the Prince Vladimir, armed with Bulava missiles, together with two other missile carriers of the Northern Fleet surfaced from under the ice in the area of the Franz Josef Land archipelago. And in the summer of this year, he made the transition from the Kola Peninsula to Kronstadt and took part in the Main Naval Parade on the day of the Navy.

Now the Prince Vladimir submarine is serving in the Northern Fleet.
And he is waiting for his younger brother - under his own name "Prince Oleg" he is undergoing the final stage of tests and recently performed the first launch of the "Mace" from an underwater position. How it was and what preceded such an event is shown in this video in the new program "Vesti Sevmash".
