The Russian Ministry of Defense decided to equip the Marines with "Super Kalashnikov" - AK-12 submachine guns. The marines of the Pacific (TOP) and Black Sea Fleets (Black Sea Fleet) will be the first to master the novelty.
So, the machine guns have already been tested by the "black berets" of the peacekeeping battalion of the Pacific Fleet, currently serving in Nagorno-Karabakh. AK-12 is suitable not only for combined-arms combat, but also for stripping ships and buildings.
Military expert Vladislav Shurygin said that this has historically happened: the most combat—ready units - special forces, airborne forces and marines - are the first to receive new weapons. He stressed that if earlier, when comparing the classic Kalashnikov assault rifle with American assault rifles, there was less accuracy of domestic weapons, then the new model is no longer inferior to them in anything.
Any surveillance devices can be installed on the machine: laser designators or flashlights. It is also easy to add an additional front handle and make other modifications for ease of use. It is also possible to equip it with an under-barrel grenade launcher. The butt of the machine can be easily reclined if necessary. According to the Ministry of Defense, in comparison with the basic AK-74M, the effectiveness of firing at the AK-12 has doubled.
The new model was developed as part of the "Warrior" program to create equipment that significantly increases the combat capability of units. It includes more than 10 different subsystems - from reconnaissance equipment, thermal imagers and sights to new small arms and bulletproof vests.
