MOSCOW, Nov 15 - RIA Novosti. Intelligent 30-millimeter ammunition with remote detonation created for infantry support combat vehicles (BMPT) will be able to shoot down a wide range of targets, including small-sized drones, the general designer of the company developing these projectiles NPO Pribor (part of the Technodinamika holding of Rostec State Corporation) said in an interview with RIA Novosti Oleg Chizhevsky.
"The global trend in the development of small-caliber artillery and grenade launcher weapons today is the creation of ammunition equipped with remote detonation complexes, thanks to which the effectiveness of defeating small-sized ground and air targets is significantly increased: tank-dangerous manpower and drones, including small class. We have completed the development of a controlled remote detonation complex (KDUVPS) for the Terminator tank support combat vehicle," he said.
Chizhevsky noted that the use of this complex provides high-precision aerial detonation of ammunition at a given point relative to the target and makes it possible to repeatedly increase the effectiveness of artillery systems by significantly increasing the effectiveness of fragmentation action (up to 4-5 times) and repeatedly increasing the accuracy of the detonation of the projectile.
"The adopted scheme does not require modification of the guns, which is a fundamental advantage in relation to other possible ways of programming the fuse. This complex has passed the stage of preliminary tests and has been transferred to state tests," the agency interlocutor added.
The first contract for the supply of the Russian Armed Forces BMPT "Terminator" was signed during the scientific and technical forum "Army-2017". "Terminators" were adopted in 2018. The BMPT armament complex consists of two 30 mm 2A42 cannons, four 9M120-1 anti-tank guided missiles of the Ataka type with a laser guidance system, two AGS-17 grenade launchers and a 7.62mm upgraded Kalashnikov tank machine gun.
