Rosoboronexport expects "a fairly high interest in this car"
DUBAI, November 14. /tass/. The newest Russian light tactical aircraft (LTS) Checkmate must go from a prototype to a production machine before signing contracts. This was announced to TASS by the General Director of Rosoboronexport JSC (part of Rostec State Corporation) Alexander Mikheev during the Dubai Airshow 2021 International Airshow.
"During the MAKS-2021 air show, Rosoboronexport showed the Checkmate LTS to a number of foreign partners. They highly appreciated his concept. However, before receiving applications and the start of pre-contract work, the fighter will have to take to the air and go from a prototype to a production car," he said, adding that in the future Rosoboronexport expects "a fairly high interest in this car."
For the first time, Checkmate was presented at the MAKS-2021 air Show by the United Aircraft Corporation. The foreign premiere of the fighter took place at the Dubai Airshow 2021.
LTS Checkmate includes all the most advanced developments, including an open construction schedule in the interests and unique artificial intelligence technologies. The aircraft is made using stealth technologies, equipped with an internal fuselage compartment for air-to-air and air-to-surface aircraft. The payload mass will exceed seven tons. The fighter can simultaneously hit up to six targets. The speed of a single-engine aircraft will be Mach 1.8. It is expected that the first flight will take place in 2023.
Dubai Airshow is one of the largest international aviation and space exhibitions and is held in the UAE once every two years. Russia has been participating in it since 1993.
