"Checkmate has become one of three fundamentally new aircraft presented at the Dubai Airshow 2021. The salon was chosen as the place of the first foreign debut of the Sukhoi combat aircraft of the new generation [Checkmate] - a fifth-generation fighter with low visibility and high flight characteristics," the organizing committee said.
Two other fundamental innovations in the field of aviation were the prototype of the Bellwether urban air taxi and the Manta ANN2 light two-seat aircraft for personal use, the organizing committee added.
The Checkmate aircraft includes all the most advanced developments, including an open architecture for building in the interests of the customer and unique artificial intelligence technologies. The aircraft is made using stealth technologies, equipped with an internal fuselage compartment for air-to-air and air-to-surface aircraft weapons. The payload mass will exceed seven tons. The fighter can simultaneously hit up to six targets. The speed of a single-engine aircraft will be Mach 1.8, and the combat radius will be 3 thousand km. It is expected that the aircraft will make its first flight in 2023.
Dubai Airshow is one of the largest international aviation and space exhibitions and is held in the UAE once every two years. Russia has been participating in it since 1993.
