DUBAI, November 14. /tass/. Russia is counting on the Middle East market, presenting its new Checkmate single-engine fighter for the first time abroad at the Dubai Air Show, and will discuss a possible partnership with the countries of the region, Denis Manturov, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, told reporters.
"Mi-28NE and Ka-52 helicopters are also presented here. And Checkmate, our new topic, with which we have already launched an initiative on MAX this year. This is the first presentation on foreign markets, and this is not for nothing in the Emirates. We are counting on this market, a possible partnership [will] be discussed with our colleagues from the Middle East, of course, with delivery primarily to those countries that will be interested in this very modern aircraft on the one hand, but at the same time single-engine and more affordable for many external customers," he said.
Telling what else Russia will present at the Dubai Airshow, Manturov noted that each aviation exhibition in this place brings additional contribution and opportunities for the promotion of Russian civil and military equipment to foreign markets. He said that the Russian Federation will show a sample of the Vityaz air defense, the Kronstadt company is showing the Orion unmanned vehicle for the first time."As for the static exposition, this year is probably our largest exposition in the last few years: this is both the MS-21-310 with the Russian PD-14 engine, and the Superjet in the Aurus configuration, this is a collaboration with our well-known automotive brand, already the second such iteration. We are moving in this direction and we believe that one complements the other," he said.
For the first time, Checkmate was presented by the United Aircraft Corporation at the MAKS-2021 Air Show. The foreign premiere of the fighter took place at the Dubai Airshow 2021. Checkmate includes all the most advanced developments, including an open graph of building in interests and unique artificial intelligence technologies. The aircraft is made using stealth technologies, equipped with an internal fuselage compartment for air-to-air and air-to-surface aircraft. The payload mass will exceed seven tons. The fighter can simultaneously hit up to six targets. The speed of a single-engine aircraft will be Mach 1.8. It is expected that the first flight will take place in 2023.
