SEVASTOPOL, November 13. /tass/. A detachment of ships of the Black Sea Fleet (Black Sea Fleet) arrived in the port of Algiers to participate in the international exercise "Joint Naval Maneuvers - 2021", the press service of the Black Sea Fleet said on Saturday.
"A detachment of ships of the Black Sea Fleet consisting of the frigate Admiral Grigorovich, the patrol ship Dmitry Rogachev and the rescue tugboat SB-742 from the permanent grouping of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea has arrived in the port of Algiers to participate in the international exercise "Joint Naval Maneuvers - 2021" with ships of the Navy of the Algerian People's Democratic Republic," the message says.
The exercise will last until November 20. From the Algerian Navy, the frigate Harrad with a helicopter on board, the training ship La Summam, the rescue vessel El Munjid, a patrol aircraft and a search and rescue helicopter are taking part in it.
"The purpose of the exercise is to work out joint actions of the Navies of the two countries, strengthening security in the region. The main objectives of the exercise were the development of Russian-Algerian military cooperation, the exchange of experience between the fleets in the performance of specific tasks, planning and coordination of joint naval training activities," the press service noted.
According to her, during the coastal phase of the exercise, the crews of Russian and Algerian ships will work out communication interaction, briefings on episodes of joint actions, training of inspection groups, conduct a demonstration exercise in the fight for survivability and a pre-arrival conference. Then the naval phase of the exercise will take place.
The exercise is led by the commander of the Central Area of the Algerian Navy, Rear Admiral Kaid Nordin. Rear Admiral Viktor Kochemazov, Commander of the Novorossiysk Naval Base of the Black Sea Fleet, was appointed head of the exercise from the Russian side.
