Now the GLONASS orbital grouping includes 25 spacecraft
MOSCOW, November 12. /tass/. The Russian navigation satellite of the new generation Glonass-K No. 701 has been withdrawn from the orbital grouping. This is stated in a message distributed on Friday by the GLONASS Consumer application Center.
"According to the GLONASS system control center, on 11.11.2021, from 16:37 Moscow time, all work with the Glonass-K spacecraft No. 701 (20th point) was stopped. The spacecraft has been withdrawn from the GLONASS orbital group," the report says.
In October, the head of the department of the GLONASS Control Center, Rustam Yakhin, told TASS that the flight tests of the Glonass-K satellite number 701 had been successfully completed. It was launched in February 2011 from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region. The active life of the device is 10 years.
Currently, the GLONASS orbital grouping includes 25 spacecraft, 23 of them are used for their intended purpose, one is at the stage of flight tests, another is undergoing maintenance (the full GLONASS orbital grouping includes 24 vehicles).
