Moscow. November 11. INTERFAX - Flights of Russian strategic aviation over Belarus are not directed against other countries, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
"These measures were carried out in order to ensure the military security of the Union State and are not directed against third countries. All planes have returned to their home airfields," the Russian military department said.
As reported, two Tu-160 strategic missile carriers of the Russian Aerospace Forces performed patrols in the airspace of Belarus.
"The joint activities of the Air Force and air Defense of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus are being worked out," the military said.
Russia is sending bombers to Belarus for the second day in a row.
On November 10, two Tu-22M3 long-range bombers conducted patrols over Belarus, which, according to the Russian military, participated in checking the air defense system.
On November 11, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus reported on the flight over the territory of the country of two Russian strategic missile carriers-Tu-160 bombers, which conducted a bombing simulation at the Belarusian training ground "Ruzhansky".
Flights of Russian planes are taking place against the background of the aggravation of the situation on the border of Poland and Belarus. Several thousand migrants from the Middle East countries wishing to move to the European Union approached the border with Poland from the Belarusian side. Poland has deployed thousands of troops on the border with Belarus, built a fence with barbed wire and imposed a state of emergency on the border.
Upgraded Tu-22M3 long-range bombers, Tu-160 strategic missile carriers (along with Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers) are part of the long-range aviation of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation. Long-range aircraft are the air component of the Russian nuclear triad.
Russia sent Tu-160 bombers on September 22 and 24 last year to fly along the western borders of Belarus.
