Moscow. November 11. INTERFAX-AVN Deliveries of S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems to Saudi Arabia are possible, this issue has been discussed, and the chances of implementing such a contract remain, Vyacheslav Dzirkaln, Deputy Director General for Foreign Economic Activity of Almaz -Antey Concern, told Interfax.
"It was not a bluff, indeed, contacts were made, the issue was discussed. There is always a chance. Time will tell how real it is. There is a good saying in the East: "He who lives sees." We'll wait and see," Dzirkaln said, answering a question about the reality of the chances of signing a contract for the supply of S-400 to Saudi Arabia.
March 12 Head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS of Russia) Dmitry Shugaev said that Saudi Arabia may purchase Russian air defense systems to repel drone attacks, which its existing US-made weapons cannot cope with.
"In recent months, various objects have been attacked more and more often. And recently, quite recently, literally, an export oil port was subjected. And the "Patriots" they are armed with - they do not cope with this task. I think the Saudis are thinking about this very seriously," Shugaev said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 TV channel (VGTRK).
According to him, Saudi Arabia "could potentially buy the S-400," as well as the Pantsir complexes.
In 2017, a number of Russian representatives stated that Russia and Saudi Arabia signed documents for the supply of S-400 systems.
In February 2019, the FSVTS of Russia announced that Moscow and Riyadh were discussing conditions for activating the contract for the S-400.
