The crew of the station conducted an environmental survey of the construction of Olympic facilities
MOSCOW, November 9. /tass/. The Olympic facilities around Sochi were built under the environmental supervision of astronauts from the International Space Station (ISS). Hero of Russia, cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin told about this at a press conference in TASS.
"In 2007, Sochi won the right to host the 2014 Olympic Games. I was at the top at that time (in orbit - approx. TASS) and asked the guys responsible for ecology and the impact on nature to tell about possible future sites for the construction of Olympic facilities," Yurchikhin said.
According to him, after that, cosmonauts from orbit began to conduct an environmental survey of the construction of Olympic facilities.
"Both in 2010 and in 2013, during the years of my flights, we continued this work," the cosmonaut said.
