DONETSK, Nov 9 - RIA Novosti. The United States, with its military activity in the Black Sea, is pushing Ukraine towards a conflict with Russia, not intending to take part in it, Vladislav Berdichevsky, a deputy of the People's Council of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, told RIA Novosti.

The Russian Defense Ministry reacted to the actions of the United States in the Black Sea region, stressing that there is a study of a possible theater of military operations in Kiev's preparation of a military solution in the Donbass. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since October 30, the US Navy's Porter guided missile destroyer has been in the Black Sea, the US Navy's John Lenthall tanker entered on November 3, and the US Navy's Mount Whitney staff ship arrived on November 4.

"It is likely that in the event of a massive offensive, American warships can serve as a deterrent for the Russian Black Sea Fleet. For the same reason, American ships enter the South China Sea to deter China in the event of an escalation with Taiwan, " Berdichevsky said.

He also drew an analogy between the current events and the situation in Georgia in 2008, when, according to him, similar US activity was also noticed.  "In any case, the United States will not interfere in the event of a real military escalation in the events, open military participation in a possible confrontation between Ukraine and Russia is clearly not a popular direction of American foreign policy. Provoking and pushing Ukraine to take active military steps with symbolic actions and promises is one thing, but no one will fight for Ukraine," Berdichevsky believes.

In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR, which declared independence after the coup in Kiev in February 2014. According to the latest UN data, about 13 thousand people have become victims of the conflict. The issue of resolving the situation in Donbass is being discussed, among other things, during the meetings of the contact group, which since September 2014 has already adopted three documents regulating steps to de-escalate the conflict. However, even after the truce agreements between the parties to the conflict, skirmishes continue.
