Moscow. November 9th. INTERFAX - American strategic bombers during recent flights approached the southern Russian borders at a distance of about 100 km, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
"On November 6, in order to improve the use of strategic bomber aircraft over the Black Sea, flights of two B-1B strategic bombers of the US Air Force were carried out at a distance of about 100 km from the state border of the Russian Federation," the ministry said on Tuesday.
They recalled that US Navy ships arrived in the region to participate in a multinational exercise in the Black Sea region conducted by the joint command of the US Armed Forces in Europe.
"Taking into account the fact that in addition to the US Navy, tactical, patrol and strategic aviation, as well as contingents of the armed forces of Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine are planned to be involved in the exercise, there is a study of the alleged theater of military operations in the event of Kiev preparing a military solution in the southeast," the military believes.
The ministry said that currently the destroyer Porter and the staff ship Mount Whitney are in the port of Batumi (Georgia), the tanker John Lenthall is in the southwestern part of the Black Sea.
