TSAMTO, November 9th. Serbian Defense Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic visited Madrid on November 4, where he held talks with his Spanish counterpart Margarita Robles.
As reported by Scramble.nl the main topic of the conversation was the development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense, in particular, in the field of military industry.
Following the meeting, N. Stefanovich signed a letter of intent declaring the purchase of two C-295MW military transport aircraft from Airbus Defense and Space, as well as Spain's commitment to provide support and assistance in the purchase of weapons.
The possible acquisition of C-295MW aircraft was previously announced on October 11, 2021, as part of the 10th anniversary Partner 2021 Arms Exhibition in Belgrade. At the same time, the Serbian Defense Minister announced the possible purchase of an unnamed number of H-145M helicopters.
According to the Serbian resource Tangosix.rs, the procedure for the purchase of transport aircraft has just begun and the future agreement will be structured according to the principle of "G-to-G" ("government-government").
