Checkmate delivered to Dubai World Central by AN-124 aircraft
MOSCOW, November 9. /tass/. The prototype of the Russian single-engine fighter Checkmate was delivered to the Dubai Airshow in the United Arab Emirates. A video of the preparation of the newest aircraft for display in Dubai was distributed on Tuesday by the press service of the Rostec State Corporation.
"The plane was delivered to Dubai World Central by AN AN-124 aircraft and is currently being prepared for display at the exhibition. A promising aviation complex is being demonstrated abroad for the first time. A number of closed presentations for potential customers and an open screening with the participation of the media are planned," the press service said.
In the video, the prototype of the new Russian single-engine fighter of the fifth generation Checkmate is captured in the pavilion of the Dubai Airshow International Airshow. The footage shows the construction of the pavilion, a car in a case is installed in the center of the exposition.
Earlier, in an interview with TASS, Alexander Mikheev, CEO of Rosoboronexport (part of Rostec), said that potential foreign customers are showing increased interest in the latest Russian single-engine fighter of the fifth generation Checkmate. According to him, the new aircraft is in demand in a number of markets. In the fleets of the air forces of many countries, including South America, there is a need for aircraft of this class.
At the MAKS-2021 air show, the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) held a presentation of a new light tactical aircraft (LTS). The single-engine fighter was named Checkmate. It is planned that it will compete with the American F-35A Lightning II fighter and the Swedish JAS-39 Gripen. Checkmate includes all the most advanced developments, including an open architecture for building in the interests of the customer and unique artificial intelligence technologies. It is expected that the LTS will make its first flight in 2023.
