SIMFEROPOL, Nov 7 - RIA Novosti. The frigate (patrol ship) "Admiral Essen" conducted exercises in the Black Sea to cover the base point of ships in the Crimea from a strike by a group of aircraft of a conditional enemy, the press service of the Black Sea Fleet reports.
The exercises took place against the background of the USS Porter, armed with cruise missiles, and the US Navy's Mount Whitney staff ship, entering the Black Sea. The forces and means of the Russian Black Sea Fleet have begun to monitor their actions.
According to the plan of the exercises, the Black Sea Fleet control center received data on the take-off of a group of conditional enemy aircraft in the direction of Crimea. The targets were conditionally destroyed before the aircraft entered the combat course.
Admiral Essen is the second frigate of Project 11356R, which is in service with the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The patrol ship is part of the 30th Division of surface ships. The basis of the ship's shock armament is the 3C14 universal launchers. The launchers are capable of using Calibre, Onyx and Zircon missiles when the latter are adopted.
